A weird fact is the Machop line most likely only exists because from a interview, they said that long ago, Nintendo sent a bunch of muscular monsters to use in the game due to the fact Nintendo didn't think most of the cutesy monsters would be popular with America.
"We were sent a proposal of muscle-bound characters to use if we wanted to do well in the U.S." Nintendo didn't sign off on the beefed-up Pocket Monsters.
