Greetings /vp/,
I've came across a few interesting things about the latest upcoming Pokemon title. I have a source from the TPCi in-house translation team, although I can't reveal too much due to how the information is shared.
Story:
> takes place after the Great War in Kalos, focused on rebuilding Lumoise
> In the past, Kalos was known as "Alonsias"
> game visually resembles late 1700s-era France in both the style of the buildings and the HUD layouts artstyle, sort of like how Legends: Arceus was visually inspired by works of the Meiji era
> Lysandre ancestor is the professor
> the villain of the game is AZ, who repents of his ways after you defeat him
Combat is visually similar to Arceus, but instead of agile and strong moves, the central mechanic is "being able to hit multiple Pokemon with one attack".
New Pokemon:
> Trevenacre: Trevenant evo (Ghost/Grass)
> Obeast: Snorlax evo (Normal/Grass)
> Yanmogre: Yanmega evo (Bug/Flying)
> Hydrepper: Scovillain evo (Fire/Grass)
> Maincoone: Persian evo (Normal)
> Starus: Starmie evo (Water/Psychic)
New forms:
> Alonsian Incineroar (Fire/Fairy) based on a French nobleman
> Alonsian Inteleon (Water/Steel) based on Marquis de Lafayette
> Alonsian Meganium (Grass/Ghost) based on the Paris Catacombs
> Alonsian Pidgeot (Pure Flying)
> Alonsian Bronzong (Psychic/Rock, resembles Arc De Trompe)
> Alonsian Parasect (Bug/Steel, growth resembles the Eiffel Tower)
> Alonsian Bruxish (Bug/Water, looks freaky)
New megas:
> Mega Arbok (Poison/Dragon)
> Mega Dragonite (Dragon/Flying)
> Mega Lapras (Water/Fairy)
> Mega Eevee (Normal)
> Mega Dragapult (Ghost/Dragon, looks like a fighter jet)
> Mega Spidops (Bug/Dark)
> Mega Skeledirge, Quaquaval, Meowsacarada (Skeledirge and Quaquaval stay the same type but Meowscarada becomes pure Grass)
Ride Pokemon return, although they are called via a "ride pager" they function similarly to Arceus. Gamefreak noticed the positive reception to them and decided to leave them in.
