It might not work, I tested at the time with a few friend's phones, not sure what's the gps difference between brands/models.
Anyway, you're in a good spot because if it works, you'll be able to walk around a little bit, basically within your gps margin of error.
Point your phone towards the desired direction, now start waving it rapidly in short swipes as if your using a fan on someone. If it works at all, you'll start walking. I noticed this would only happen if I was at home, which is an apartment on lower floors in the middle of the city, so lots of shit compromising my gps. Whenever I tried this outdoors it would not work at all.
I don't know why or how my gps works like this, but I guess some phones correlate their pedometer with the gps so they try and see if you're walking (shaking the phone) to know where you're/where you're going.
Give it a try (with no one looking of course, I had people coming at me while staring at the wall shaking my arms furiously, don't do that).
