However, GameFreak and TPCi were not about to let a fully-evolved Grass starter get the spotlight in Smash. They did everything in their power to sabotage Decidueye and screw over its fans, including Sakurai. They purposefully made the bara fursuiter strong competitively by giving it the optimal stat distribution and an overpowered ability. They also fired the writers of the anime for setting up Decidueye to be Ash's ace. Instead, they were replaced by new workers contractually obligated to shill Incineroar (is it any coincidence that both Decidueye and Primarina's first appearances in the anime both involved them jobbing to Incineroar?). As for Decidueye's inclusion in Pokken Tournament DX, the Pokemon Company struck a deal with Bandai Namco to put him in if it meant that Incineroar would get into Smash. Sakurai, without realizing all of this, wanted to make Decidueye playable. However, it was too late. GameFreak, TPCi, AND Bandai Namco had complete control over Incineroar's inclusion and shut down Sakurai's choice to add Decidueye to the game. And thus ends the tragic tale of how a legitimately popular Pokemon and its fans got snubbed by the most selfish, anti-consumer game companies in Japan. And now that Gen 8 is beginning next year and Decidueye failed to get into Smash, it will be completely forgotten and die forever.
