I think it's one of those things you won't understand on the first glance. Like people say this dude looks hot and I'm like ???, but I guess he looks weirdly attractive. Also interesting clothing choice. Bug mainer, don't remember many if any of them, much less a team Boss. Has a little story to elaborate him further and understanding why they way he is the way he is. Also the fact that he turns himself better at the end of the game and the start of the post-game.
For me, he became likable after I got to know him a little better. That trailer gave him a weong impression entirely.
