Decks like dragapult just don't care about abilities so they get a completely free match up
A lot of the current meta is reliant on abilities, even from turn 1 with squawk and using mew/fez to draw after hand disruption. Iron thorns is currently the only way to turn off abilities in format, so people don't respect it as much. There used to be a stadium card which was iron thorns effect, that saw A LOT of play
