Because everyone complains about the games getting worse and hacking is so prevalent, Pokemon ditches its story entirely and becomes an always-online multiplayer-only game. Not F2P, but still has microtransactions.
Pokemon will be roated in and out seasonally, implemented alongside $30 region expansion packs. Some Pokemon will be unable to be traded or transferred unless you own the associated region's expansion.
There will be limited box space, and out-of-season Pokemon will be greyed out with the only option being to send them to Home or release them.
There's also a premium battle pass that unlocks VGC-legal legendaries. This is the only way to obtain Pokemon such as Ting-Lu, Landorus, and Kyogre. You capture legendary Pokemon in co-op raids- only one per battle pass owner.
Event raids will be buy-in for each attempt. Matchmaking is random, with no option to complete them with friends.
And you'll still buy it.
