It's called Femme Fatals. General premise is these are extradimensional creatures who exist on a reality parrallel to our own, but the twist is that our realities are clashing.
They are a signed a human partner at the childs birth and must protect the human when the times comes. At first Fatal's only appear as apparitions to the human they are assigned to when they are children, it's only when that human matures that they are able to see the Fatal's true form. They tied to each other on a spiritual level, so if one dies the other does too.
Since the realities are clashing more and more fatals are getting into altercations with humans, which triggers the need for assigned Fatal's to protect and fight off threats that attack they're assigned humans. The closer they are to one another, the stronger the Fatal's become. All Fatal's are female.
