The fan art seems to be inspired based on hindu gods with many arms, while Mega Medicham seems to be inspired on an apsara (servant of the gods, comparable to angels) with the extra arms being based on the floating cloth they have.

Very interesting.
This reminds me that I believe Mega Medicham isn't based on hindu deities with lots of arms as it is often assumed, but in the Tennin from buddhism that serve the Bodhisattvas (though I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject).

Medicham's extra arms are actually the scarves often seen floating around tennin and similar entities known as "tenne", repurposed.
