Going to keep it civil and offer my own argument as to why I'm against the transfers.
There's a lot of ways to experience new games with older Pokemon. A lot of arguments people make for the lack of transferring seem to be, "why would you want to steamroll the game with the busted Level 100s you have?" but that's not true at all. The first thing to take in mind is that Pokemon that do not share your OT (both shown and secret IDs, and trainer name) will not be considered your own. As such, if you were planning on using an older mon to abuse the maingame, you'd likely have more trouble than it's actually worth, due to the obedience system. If you think you can plow through with a level 100, you'd likely spend more time hoping they don't fall asleep or slowly kill themselves via confusion, and all that wasted time could be better spent simply building up a team.
The argument for transferring actually comes from the various different things you can do with a Pokemon. Every game has a different thing to offer for Pokemon, with different goals or achievements. The most clear instance of it can be seen in the ribbons system, where your Pokemon can get ribbons as achievements for performing certain hardships, like Contests, the Battle Tower, beating Red, or even being purified and beating Mt. Battle in the Orre games. Within the series thus far, you were also able to keep your absolute favorite mon over the years, collecting these achievements along the way. With the dex cut, certain Pokemon would be completely unable to keep that streak going, so all that effort put in over the years is gone. And this isn't something that can be redone with new Pokemon, either. With the shutdown of Wi-Fi, you cannot get any new replacements for Pokemon with these feats.
