the problem with gen5 design wise is that, because of so many unnecessary evolution stages, you can drop 20-30 pokemon and nothing is really lost. all of the ideas for new pokemon would still be there aesthetically nothing is missed if these never existed, and this pic is generous you can easily pull another 5 or so out as well.
