Squidmom was cool and everything, but the rest of the game just felt like a half-finished mess of ideas with barely anything to keep the player interest fresh, and then they went & pulled the Ultra shit out their ass & managed not only to make everything feel the same amount of unfinished, peppered with more unnecessary ideas, they go and cut Squidmom on top of it, and ruin any chance of me picking those games up.
It’s undeniable that ORAS were disappointing if you stack them against HGSS or even FRLG, but I did like the games for what they were, which was dragging Ruby & Sapphire into the 3DS era. They coulda dialed down all the fanfic-tier Delta Episode story shit, made it possible to legit get the Sinnoh evos
and Regigigas in the regional dex, and completely skipped the free Lati@s portion, and the games probably woulda been better, but for what it’s worth, I had a comfy & enjoyable time with the games, far more than I did XY or Gen V, and I’d be pleased to end my experience with Pokemon on that personal good note rather than the shit they keep pumping out nowadays.
