Before I go on, this post is about the Dronia map and how I have a suggestion for a redesign that basically overhauls a controversial part of the current designs.
Pic related is a quick and simple sketch of the new concept. I haven't tried tilesets or thought out the details so it is easily subject to change but I do want to note down the main parts that I wanted to change:
>The main disagreement I had was how mixed up and 'Goldenrod' like the current favoured designs are. Big, obstacle-filled city idea has been switched to a design that is chunked and separated. Port towns are prosperous for many reasons and I want to hit that idea home.
>There is a lower ground tourist/living side in the west off of Route 7 (Including the yacht port, rich housing and retail industries). A massive bridge-like stairway connects the lower ground to the east-side, raised area for industry and poor living areas. This stairway concept was just a means to an end so could change easily.
>The main novelty of this design is the MOTHERFUCKING LOCH which I believe is unique to the games. this is where large, working boats will be raised from sea-level up to the factories for mass-deliveries and whatnot. It will be the 'architectural miracle' of the town. It would be amazing to see boats being directed along it - travelling up/down it would be sweet.
>I liked the idea of a sewer with Pokemon - I personally wanted to make the 'hobo dojo' a bit dodgier and darker, and I have put it at the end of the sewer so you travel to it as a final area. However I can see why it is depicted as being under the big bridge...
>...But I disliked the idea of a bridge, especially with a park sitting on it. It feels too out of place and I believe others felt this way.
All of this is subject to change and I'm up for any ideas or "Fuck off and die" comments, but would prefer criticism.
