Holy shit guys, why do Diamond and Pearl have such a shitty selection of Pokemon? I was planning on starting a new save file in Pearl but I'm having huge trouble in coming up with a team. It seems that you can mostly find shitmons and nothing else during the first half of the game. Here's how it always goes:
>Well, what could be my final team member... Rotom? Nope, post-game only in Pearl. Gliscor? Scyther? Rhydon? Gardevoir? Lickilicky? Houndoom? Yanmega? Oh wait, they're all Platinum-only
My current team is Empoleon, Staraptor, Sudowoodo, Medicham, and Bibarel the HM slave. Are there any decent Pokemon in Pearl that I could add to this team? No, Kricketune is not decent and Stunky is exclusive to Diamond.

I know, but my girlfriend is playing it so I have to play Pearl.

I... I want to believe. I'm not saying I believe, but I'm not calling it fake either. Many of the pre-XY rumors ended up being true. Remember when Greninja and Hawlucha were "obvious fakes"? We can never know for sure.

I just came here to say that Diamond and Pearl were the absolute low point of the series. Now that Pokebank got delayed, I thought of restarting my save in Pearl. There was just one problem: how my supposed to build a proper team when everything I can find in the game is shit? Naturally, I want to use Gen IV Pokemon in a Gen IV game. However, here's pretty much what I have to choose from:
>Staraptor
>Luxray
>Kricketot
>Bibarel
>Floatzel
>Gastrodon

Floatzel and Gastrodon are decent but I was planning on choosing Empoleon and I don't want any other Water-types so I'm pretty much left with shitmons. Yeah, Staraptor is good too but I really want to use something else since I've had Staraptor in all of my Gen IV teams so it's getting kinda boring. By far the biggest problem with Gen IV is that almost the whole dex is taken by new evos for old Mons and useless legendaries, leaving you with nothing but shit. And don't start talking about Vespiquen, it's a pain in the ass to find a female Combee from the honey trees. Not that Vespiquen is that good in the first place. When it comes to old-gen Mons, here are pretty much what I have to choose from:

Rapidash:
>Evolves too late
>No physical STAB before lvl 48
>Dead weight

Mismagius:
>No special STAB before lvl 37
>Dead weight

Medicham:
>Evolves too late
>Dead weight

Haunter:
>Don't have anyone to trade with so NFE

Crobat:
>Requires too much team support early in the game to became useful
>Not that good even after evolving

Sudowoodo:
>Shitmon, dead weight

Clefable:
>Relies too heavily on TMs to get a good moveset

Aaand that's about it. I came to the conclusion that I'm not going to replay Gen IV again. It's basically the Generations of shitmons and should be avoided at all cost.

So, I'm trying to breed for perfect Absol because reasons. While using Serebii's IV calc for Dittos, I decided to use it and see what my current random Absol has. It all came up as invalid. Keep in mind I super trained it a little.

My question is this, is there a way I can check its IVs like this, or did the super training mess it up so I have to wait until they add a mechanic to make up for that part?
