One of my favorite aspects of Kanto and Johto is exploring nature. Exploring forests and caves like a kid, coming across like one or two bigger cities for contrast, ninjas and wild animals, PG adventure, some mysticism like Ho-Oh, it's all indescribably comfy and very few games have ever come even close to capturing that feel of childlike wonder. Some old Legend of Zelda's and Metroid and perhaps some RPG I can't remember have scratched the itch but those games are old and completed. I need new comfy worlds to explore. Everything's too dark or too big or bogged down by story. Even the new Pokemon games don't quite hit the spot. I don't wanna save the world. I just wanna explore some cool caves and swim around finding secrets.
