>>44367186This is the dumbest fucking argument and I'm sick to death of people throwing this out there anytime someone DARES to criticize Dynamaxing.
Manual Switching is not a crutch, it's a pivotal mechanic that requires significant thought to use. Battles literally would be unable to function without it, because then every game would be decided turn one based on what the leads were.
Hazards are not a crutch, because they punish careless switching with constant damage and will slowly wear down someone who keeps trying to abuse it.
Heavy Duty Boots allow you to ignore hazards, but they are not a crutch by themselves; they merely let some pokemon ignore their crippling flaws.
U-Turn and Volt Switch could potentially be considered a crutch since it's a form of switching that allows you to constantly deal damage to the opponent while continuously stringing multiple pokemon in and out of the field, but this can still be gamed by just predicting what the opponent is going to send in and killing the pokemon as it enters the field, so I don't think it counts as one.
Compare this to:
>On demand, at any time, anywhere, doubled health for free with no warning to the opponent to survive otherwise 100% lethal hits>Three turns of this doubled HP with a massive array of ridiculously powerful moves that all have insanely powerful effects, like boosting stats, lowering enemy stats, setting weather or terrain, inflicting status conditions, etc>These moves hit like a truck, can break through protection moves, and will activate their secondary effects EVEN IF THE OPPONENT PROTECTS OR USE A SUB>The only reliable way to stop this is to use your own Dynamax>Games are almost entirely decided by this mechanic in Gen 8>In doubles the effects also spread to all pokemon on one side of the field, making it even more powerfulThey aren't even fucking comparable.
Dynamax is a crutch because it removes the need to predict or think, because just double your HP!
Now go take a hike.
