But our government was terrible during this: perpetually and aggressively divided on the main issues, and each side constantly trying to slip unrelated bills into the proposals which kept further prolonging agreement. All the while those cocks and hens clucked away, doing nothing but strutting around in their government salaries paid for by the people they were failing/neglecting to aid.
Our rump/sleepy bucks will not be helpful for anything except keeping the people just enough in check to ignore all the transgressions passively committed against us last year.
