The cutscenes aren't the problem, inherently speaking. Gen 5 has cutscenes up the wahoo too and this board eats it up like candy. No see, the issue is the sheer frequency they are doled out, they are poorly written and uninteresting, nothing of interest happens, no stakes, no personality. It is quite LITERALLY a neverending tutorial. It's made in such a way to handhold you constantly and suck your dick. At least with Death Stranding you can enjoy it as a movie of high quality because shit is actually happening and testing your peabrain attention span, not because it's so artificially crafted and forced onto you by the devs to guide you through the game.
Think about all the times you are interrupted by N, or Team Plasma, or another important character or event in Gen 5, or Colress. That shit is actually interesting and it's driving a narrative, with the promise of something more. It is not telling you about basic fucking mechanics 3 hours into the game, it is simply pushing the progression forward. It would loathe me to remind /vp/ that people usually actually LIKE cutscenes in a JRPG because they like the STORY. This is actually commonplace in the genre. It's just that Game Freak does such a shit job of it now, and fucking mutates it to their own whims to serve their patronizing agenda and low effort bullshit, that it has jaded you all to the point where cutscenes have zero place and time in this sort of genre.
The halfbaked story of XY, the crappy fanfic additions of ORAS, the hours and hours of insubstantial cutscenes clogging up every minute and facet of SuMo. All of this shit is fucking terrible, and you can blame Ohmori and his autistic gook ass for this shit. He thinks that since they are now in 3D space they can feel free to dick around and coat their meager attempts to make a fully realized 3D environment with the lame storytelling meant to provide a visual waypoint through said visual space. Ohmori is the main culprit. REMOVE OHMORI.
