They've never really played pokemon past rushing through the main quest once then forgetting the series for the next 4 years, if they've even done that for most of the titles.
They're just coming out of the woodworks now that being a "nerd" and a "gamer" is cool, so they're busting out their "original gamer cred" by shitting on the series because they're not like the other mindless consumers, oh no no, they're GAMERS.
Mind you, the points about this being a shameless cashgrab are still valid, but the reasons why they're even bothering to express those opinions are revolting to say the least. Normalization of videogames is disgusting, and has produced a new class of insufferable subhumans that only deserve the gas chambers.
