there's a few more sidequests i think i could do, but i think leaving off here and eventually replaying when it's fully complete or next version is a better choice
in spite of my kvetching, and some genuinely very real gripes about the fights and areas, I actually surprisingly liked this quite a bit. it's got a lot of charm in the weird silly way a lot of spic games do, I was never bored. I came to actually really like the bidoof mc and the goofiness of it, it's such a fun little idea that so many fangames that take themselves way too seriously would never think of. the sidequests or the little side bosses were quite good too in the same sort of way bizarre's were, except i never felt like they hung on a joke too long like bizarre could fall victim to. the world also has a surprising amount of depth for how it looks at first glance, a weird town full of ghostbusters or toliman-but-actually-good were fun to explore. that, plus the ekat tiles and some pretty great music choices made this more enjoyable than probably came off.
but yeah, that fight design doe kek
i just don't know about midbattle effects man. i mean i don't think every boss in this is terrible or anything, and the effects could get actually really quite unique, but holy hell. that first and third gym were really fucking obnoxious (the fact that there's like, one or two real pokemon to counter the first gym's bullshit does not seem good design) and i'm sure they'll only get more blatantly unbalanced if you want to maintain some semblance of a difficulty curve
additionally every trainer after some time being a miniboss that uses blatantly very illegal moves layered with how the areas could get quite long reached it's absolute nadir with
>>57595870. a lot of them aren't hard, it just comes off as exhausting. it's not as bad as something like yang or anything, but if that's just a midgame dungeon, i would hate to think about the final storming of the govt capital/victory road/whatever.
