Here's my "Types they SHOULD be" takes. I'm only listing the ones I'm most confident about.
This is not assuming a retcon, but rather they should've been these Types all along from the beginning. ....Some may have required a slight design change to fit these Types, but whatever.
>Lumineon should be Water/Fairy
>Braviary should be Fighting/Flying Type (warrior, immense physical strength, honorable disposition, counterpart to villainous Mandibuzz)
>Audino should be Normal/Fairy Type, not merely the Mega
>Either Oranguru should drop Normal, or Passimian should gain it
>Arbok should be Poison/Dark Type. Yes Poison conveys its villainy perfectly fine, but it literally uses intimidation and fear as its primary shtick to gain the upper hand by terrifying foes with its hood, which is very Dark
>Cinderace should be Fire/Electric (with a little redesign)
>Zangoose and Seviper should be half Fighting. I know folks say Dark for Seviper but I just find Poison/Fighting way more interesting. They're a snake and mongoose constantly at war with each other and Seviper has a bladed weapon tail.
>Huntail should be Water/Dark (vicious, deep sea abyss creature, uses deception to lure in prey) and Gorebyss Water/Fairy (slight mermaid inspiration, does the whole "looks pretty/cute but is secretly evil" shtick that Mawile and Tapu Lele do)
>If Coalossal is part Rock because of coal, Torkoal definitely should be. And a turtle with a rock shell is just an obvious thing to do in Pokemon. (Torkoal would need way better stats, tho)
>Xerneas should be Fairy/Grass. It transforms into a tree and creates life, and this way it and Yveltal would have one Type that's effective and one not effective against the other
