I find that, while her character is lacking, her personality is very enjoyable, although it's too simple. Misty was a short-fused man in a woman's body who constantly pointed out Ash's flaws, May was smug and believed that she could do anything, Dawn lacked confidence and always threw herself under the bus. And Serena is just a sweet girl... that's all. I feel that the whole "sweet girl" thing makes her more likable than what she actually should be.
