The shell doesn't look attached to its body, it looks like it's covered in tape (or a onesie), it's a scrawny little bitch even though everyone portrays it as muscular like feraligatr, and the arm shield thing, while cool, is very rarely seen, much like delphox's wand. Combine that with the fact it had one of the coolest animals to grace the planet as its inspiration and STILL fucked it up, and it's no surprise it's one of the least popular starters in the entire franchise.
Seriously, who does chesnaught appeal to? Not normal people, almost everyone will pick greninja. Not standard/waifu furfags, because delphox exists. Not bara furfags, because it's skinny. Not lovers of monstrous/animalistic starters like venusaur, swampert, or torterra, because it's built like a human with a very ill-fitting physically but very fitting conceptually trash can lid on it's back.
Not a phoxfag, delphox is the worst fire starter we've ever had. Not even a greninja fag, it's just the only not terrible option in XY.
