I've always been stupidly lucky with shiny Pokémon, I was kind of interested in them as a kid, I was looking for a Volbeat in my copy of Pokémon Ruby for the dex back in the day, and lo and behold I found my first shiny (not counting Gyarados at Lake of Rage in G2), a shiny Illumise, I still have her, traded her up to my X cartridge a few weeks back.
I think the most ridiculous luck I got though was, I was training my team in Emerald to 100 for the hell of it, in Victory Road, and I came across a shiny Zubat, I freaked out because I love Crobat and caught it, went back to training.
Next day I was dicking about on LeafGreen or FireRed, can't remember, and managed to come across a shiny Geodude.
I was travelling to a University interview a few months back and playing Pokémon X on the train (the journey was two and a half hours there, and another two and a half back), managed to find three Friend Safari shinies in the two journeys. A Muk, an Octillery, and a Ponyta. Gave the Muk to my best friend, but kept the other two.
Pretty much all my shinies are on my X cart now, I don't have more than one box, and some I've traded for so I've no idea if they're legit, but still.
