Ignoring them often doesn't prevent them from posting anyway like others claim it does, but it does mean that the thread gets less activity, they get less replies legitimizing them, and less people will feel the need to join in. This especially applies to posts, as one shitpost in a thread is far easier to ignore when it doesn't have 6 people replying to it. Additionally, it's better for your own personal health to avoid getting into fights with shitposters who aren't interested in a real argument and will never accept losing. Just report them for "Participating in or instigating a flamewar" and hope that their post or thread will eventually get deleted. By the way, that report reason is the specific report reason for genwars on /vp/; use that knowledge in the future for better reporting.
P.S. One of the easiest telltale signs that you're dealing with a genwarring troll is if they parrot your own post back at you, but with words swapped.
