>>46478470Only games I ever bought were SoulSilver, X and Alpha Sapphire. Didn't get into Pomemon until 2009. I emulated FireRed, Emerald, Pearl and Black in that order in the span of a year. I generally liked what I played of it and had fond memories of it. I was lucky to get in at the right moment when the franchise peaked with SoulSilver. Everyone at my high school was playing Pokemon and carrying Pokewalkers, I could battle and befriend random strsngers inbetween periods. It was pretty magical. I have no real nostalgic bias otherwise since I only grew up watching the Ashnime on Kids WB up until Gen 3.
I've largely outgrown the games but I still stick around for leak seasons and finding out about new Pokemon. Even though I have never bought a game since the Gen 3 remakes I was there for the Gen 7 demo leaks and the Gen 8 strategy guide leaks, shitposting and making fun of everything with fellow shitposters. Maybe in a way I sort of haven't been able to let go, but decisively I am not as beholden to it as others are, especially in an IRL investment type of way. You really ought to emphasize with the less fortunate anons who got indoctrinated hardcore into the series as a kid. There's a lot of baggage there that is now simply just surgically attached to them and cutting it out is nigh impossible. Maybe short of some boot camp tier intervention with Clockwork Orange psyops, but you can see how even the most hopelessly consoomed still truck on despite being put on blast by /vp/'s jaded hold-outs 24/7.
