And then there's the fact that the series doesn't take any fucking risks.
Instead of COMPETING with mobile games by making a game that kids can't get enough of, Masuda's grand vision is to turn an already easy game into pic related because he thinks kids are idiots and gives no craps about the existing fanbase.
There's some gorgeous, boundary-pushing games on the 3DS, and Pokemon could be one of them, but they're content to wallow in mediocrity.
I honestly don't know why I still play. Fuck, I hadn't touched my 3DS all year until the Sun/Moon reveals started pouring in. Now I'm fucking hooked again. Why? Because there's some slightly different Pokemon? Why do I care? It's gonna be the same damn game all over again.
