>>39565647At its core, Pokemon is a very "personal" series. The very concept is going on your adventure and collecting a variety of monsters to make your personal team. It's your choice which Pokemon to use and this sense of choice gives people a stronger sense of both commitment and attachment. Ever seen the "Don't name it", "and you named it" trope? Same thing. Once you've made the choice of which Pokemon you want to use, it becomes your personal Pokemon. It's a major part of why starters and Eevees are so popular - you only get one, you have to make the choice of which one you get and you can't go back on it. It's a commitment and one that people get severely attached to.
Now that I've repeated myself a bunch of times, what makes Pokemon so special is the fact that there are so many creatures to choose from to create your unique tastes/experience and you can transfer the ones most special to you into future games to continue playing with them and keeping the memories you had with them alive. This is something unique to Pokemon - something you cannot get in any other game and provides Pokemon with a special niche. Without the ability to transfer, Pokemon loses one of the last things it had over any other series out there. Barring random Pokemon from each game is essentially a money-grubbing scam to force their userbase into buying Home or else their precious Pokemon will be deleted. There is also no advantage to gatekeeping Pokemon that could not achieved by other means while still keeping the Pokemon in the game.
Lastly, holy fuck if they remove the most important thing in the franchise then there's a precedent for them to remove any fucking thing they want and it's impossible to get excited for a single thing because it might be gone the next time around to make room for another thing that'll only be there for one gen or some stupid thing shit "YOU CAN NOW USE YOUR BIKE TO BREAK ROCKS!" stop letting GameFreak get away with removing everything for fuck's sake.
