>>29644638It negatively affected me personally because they circlejerked about Lucario for half an hour before forcing it upon you. Pandering is negative when it becomes excessive because you start to get sick of the thing they're trying to pander to you.
Not to mention Riolu was already available as an early-game 'mon, and a lot of people playing for the first time reported already having a Riolu/Lucario before they shoved it down your throat and made you use a completely different Lucario.
