In SM, Type: Null and Zygarde are placed between Akala and Ula'ula mons since they are first seen/catchable midgame.

In USUM, we know that Cosmog is #387, Necrozma is #400, and Marshadow is #402, indicating that only 2 UBs are between Lunala and Necrozma--presumably Assembly and Burst.

My first thought was that Adhesive is placed based on when you first fight the Ultra Recon Squad, but then I remembered that UBs aren't even counted as "seen" and only get registered if caught (even when the player knows Nihilego's proper name it still shows up as ???). Following this, it stands to reason that Adhesive will be obtainable a fair bit before the climax. If I had to guess, I'd say the story takes a left turn around the first Lusamine fight, and thus Adhesive plus a new UB used by the other Ultra Recon Squad member will be placed between Ula'ula and Poni mons.

You mean Necrozma? And no, we've seen several Pokedex numbers and the only things added after the Cosmog family are the 2 UBs and nothing has been added between Necrozma and the Mythicals.

Because unlike the Swords of Justice, the Cosmog line + UBs + Necrozma are all together at the end of the dex, followed by the mythicals.

I mean, there's a slim possibility of Burst and Assembly coming BEFORE the Cosmog line if they're actually relevant to the main story (unlike Pheromosa and Buzzwole in SM), meaning the 9 spots are for the 7 old UBs + 2 unrevealed postgame-only UBs, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

People were saying Jangmo-o's number in this image looks like 381, and considering cosmog's is 387 there wouldn't be enough space to fit the tapus in between kommo-o and cosmog. So... yes, I do know about the pokedex numbers. But on closer inspection it looks like maybe Jangmo-o isn't 381 after all. The original Alola dex had a bunch between the tapus and Kommo-o anyway so... I probably shouldn't believe some idiot on the bulbapedo forums next time
