Why Not have a team that actually encompasses this violence, and show how this desparation for power came to be in a region LITERALLY DEVOID OF POKEMON? Show parallells on how trainers that only use their pokemon as literal tools for fame and power soon turn into tools themselves. All of these ideas are almost touched upon, yet never actually rises above pure "what if"-speculation. Give more insight into pokemon smuggling, maybe as a reference to contraband/weapon smuggling. Make the game that is literally defined by how despicable the evil team is actually matter, instead of giving us a shallow before and after picture with colusseum and GoD.
And for gods sake, make the colusseum protagonist the actual villain in the next game. The potential story writes itself. GIVE ME GRIT!
