Loads of them needed that HP coverage to get by, especially Pokemon like Manectric, Lilligant, Sceptile, and Jolteon. They got utterly gutted in Gen 8, and the Game Freak dickriders still thought the removal of Hidden Power was a good thing because they assumed Game Freak would just naturally fix their move pools instead of just letting them languish with no moves.
