I'm sure they'll keep shitting out new pokemon games, just as they keep shitting out new spongebob episodes, but it will never have the cultural significance it once did.
Fan sites grew rapidly throughout gen 4 and 5 and arguably peaked in gen 6, but it's been all downhill since. We're on the decline, it's not just /vp/, it's Pokemon on the internet as a whole.
Pokemon GO's launch in 2016 was the closest thing to a second pokemania we'd ever see, and GO is still the most popular pokemon game to date by a very, very fucking long shot. But it wasn't enough.
You can also look at twitch viewership - 2,1k viewers right for the "Scarlet Violet" category, and most of that isn't even actually SV content. This is the day after fucking worlds. No one cares about pokemon at all anymore.
What can I say, nothing lasts forever.
