It does kind of come out of nowhere - I think a lot of people feel that ghosts aren't as unique with a starter randomly becoming a ghost rather than ghosts just being their own supernatural class. It kinda cheapens the idea I guess, having some filthy commoner learn ghost-type techniques when it isn't necessarily the most "ghostly" thing out there.
