I think the forced grind is probably the worst thing about it. The more I watch the more it does seem like it’s worth the price of entry though. There SEEMS like there is a lot of neat, hidden stuff in the game, and the stages do feel like a living Pokémon world (which is something I always want in my Pokémon games). It’s also waaaaay prettier than the screenshots and pre-release gameplay/footage made it look. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if the price of entry was a bit cheaper, but damn if I don’t think the comfy factor will make it worth it.
Few other negatives
>Pokémon don’t seem as interactive as in the OG snap, though I that may change as people discover more secrets
>no evolutions really bites
>haven’t seen a lot of puzzle solving with items, but that may be because nobody really knows what to do yet
>some early iterations of stages are fairly bare bones
All that being said, I’m a lot more sold on it than I was when the various youtubers showed it off, and watching this meth’d out dude actually playing it is ten times better than the official video Nintendo released.
