How did it get so bad that we're now defending 1:1 remakes? LGPiss was, and still is, a terrible game and remake. Just because BDSP was worse doesn't mean you have to defend the one that came before it.
What happened to remakes like HGSS and ORAS which actually re-imagined the original games and brought them up to modern standards, and made them a fully-fledged, standalone current-Gen game? Say what you want about ORAS but at least it actually tried to bring Hoenn to the Gen 6 style.
What we deserve is a Johto remake in the style of SV (or whatever the current Gen is), fully open world, every character designed, a selection of 400 Pokémon both old and nu-Gen, and with all of the content of the original games, with all of the content from SV, and more. Nothing less. You may not like the style of SV (I don't either), but remaking games in the style of the current Gen was the standard up until LGPE broke it and GF realised they don't have to put any effort into remakes anymore because you all bought it anyway.
