Recall during Castelia's episode, there was gonna be the two parter Rocket Vs Plasma which was cancelled because of earthquake drama. It might be safe to say that helped scramble their original story since it was unaired, leaving them to scrap the story and throw Plasma's stuff randomly at the end of the full anime after the league.
