If we're being totally honest the human characters introduced in gen 7 saw much greater success in the fanbase than almost any individual gen 7 pokemon, and the ones I honestly think did get more reception than any human are already deconfirmed. Of course it's ridiculous to expect another 3-pokemon team, or a human pokemon character actually fighting the other characters themselves, so I'd hope it's someone with a definitive "lead"

I honestly think any of these would be better than choosing a lone starter.
