Right now the monthly playerbase doesn't even crack 300k while Showdown consistently has far more monthly users than that. Keep in mind there's often a sharp decline in official meta players after the first couple months of a new gen so those numbers will get even worse. That almost the entire rest of the franchise conditions you to play 6v6 singles is huge, its why half those Japanese players cling onto 3v3 singles as the next best thing instead of playing doubles.
