>>26801960I know it gets a lot of hate but essentials is great if you have an idea and want to start getting it made. I personally feel hacks and are good if you are more technically inclined and just want to edit existing games, while essentials is good for if you really want to create new art and have a more from scratch game. Theres YouTube tutorials that will walk you through it, all the way from the start where you make maps and the beginning of the game.
