There's a lot of Pokemon characters that I really like that nobody else cares for (pic related is a big example), but if they suddenly got lots of fanart, there'd be a ton of trendhoppers and fetishists drawing them. Plus, it feels good finding amazing art of obscure characters every now and then rather than all the time. Quality over quantity.
