I remember when I first played it I felt mostly lukewarm about it because, while I liked it, it seemed rather samey and familiar at that point, but as time has gone by and each new generation comes and goes, I'm beginning to realize that sense of comfortable familiarity that comes with a cohesive identity and "feel" to the series is exactly what I miss most about old pokemon. It wasn't perfect, but it was probably the most comfy the series ever felt for me.
