But they cannot retcon this actual form from existence. It's far too late for that. If they wanted, they should've ignored it since XY ended.
You can't just delete from existence something like that.
If you want an example that isn't pokemon, let's say (lol) that somehow, XY is so hated that is now it's like DBGT. it would be like removing SSJ4 from existence from the entire franchise and merchandise. It didn't happened and to this day still getting some love even if they ignore GT continuity and consider it some AU. Why? Because there are enough fans of SSJ4.
You can't just delete shit from existence, especially if it's unironically popular and beloved. And yes, outside the hellhole that is 4chan, /vp/ and /padt/, Ash-Greninja is unironically popular.
