You can beat some Platformers without Jumping. Doesn't change the fact that they were designed with jumping in mind.
If a game is going to design itself expecting a player to optimize, the literal least the developer can do is make the optimization fast, though it would be better to remove redundant shit you never have a reason not to optimize.
