Anime art is honestly tailor made to cut costs while retaining style despite its flaws.
If more art houses experimented it with I'm pretty sure something cool could be made with it but instead some people dismiss it either to unironically cut costs while spending a lot more to animate spheres with tentacles attached or outright refuse it because it's audience refuses to be demoralized or has an already living pool of things to choose from another country thus rendering demoralization useless.
Anime is tainted as a super detailed weirdo style that doesn't give a good opportunity to send a message.
When it comes to games with hyper detailed animations it's kinda hard to pull off unless they follow the darkstalkers design school wich seemed to inspire skull girls.
Go and look at darkstalkers sprites, transitions and moving parts, Huitzli and Pyron for example are works of art for any aspiring animator/designer.
