Usually suspected mons are a step or two above their counterparts, like Dracovish at wallbreaking. You literally had to bring a water immunity because band fish would 2hko most if not all walls. But Seismitoad/Gastrodon(dracovish answers) aren't good mons, those are too much of a niche to exist in a metagame after the dlc. So the ban is justified on "warping teambuilding, being overly restrictive".
But now we have a exception, Magearna is busted with that expanded movepool. Stored power on a mon that bulky and strong is a crime what was gf thinking? It also still has the same flexibility as gen 7 mag. Maybe a bit less flexible because it lost a move or two, but not the same impact of losing pursuit(hello tyranitar).
Then again /vp/ always tell smogon to adapt so maybe someone out there will find a reliable magearna counter that isn't a deadweight otherwise.
