Not only did it dominate early game, but by endgame it was monster with U-Turn / Power Gem / Dark Pulse / Fake Out, which worked perfectly given how excessive double battles are in USM.
Admittedly, while I never hated Alolan Persian at first, and actually thought it was hilarious, over time it was kinda boring to "watch," so I think regular Persian might just have a more detailed design, but I also like the lore of Alola's breed considered more beautiful for their chubby features. This line went from being acknowledge but largely disregarded in any game I've ever played, to being one of my favorite Dark types.
