I will admit I'm not 1000% down with the change because it might make Japanese players uncomfortable or offended, so I'd kinda be down with making the changes optional, but I feel weird about coming to a compromise that would mostly be pandering to xenophobes and racists who think Japanese are "Honorary Aryan" or sone horseshit, y'know? If there's an all "white" skinned OG patch then would there also be an all black npc patch? Frankly I like the diversity of every shade being in, the fact it troubles others is just sad.
