If you don't use it, you are look at breeding 2 3IV mons (assuming you have them) to get a 4IV one, twice and they have to opposite genders then you have to breed them again to get a 5IV one. That is if you don't resort to imbreeding even then it just removes 'some' annoying steps or you could just be breeding one with a hexa ditto (which is most likely hacked to begin with) removing arguments for hacking.
Even with that said its not guaranteed to happen, you could go through several 10s, 100s, 1000s of eggs before getting one you want.
