See pic related which are a split evo based on the 3 main interpretations of the thought experiment (Superposition, Pilot-wave, and Many-worlds):
https://imgur.com/a/80uoDQuantum uncertainty is a genuinely fascinating and complex subject and totally worth of having a weird pokemon based around it.
>>42227587>>42227756However this ignores the fact that the current consensus of quantum physics is mostly that Schrodiger’s conclusion and interpretations were incorrect, and in half of the models there actually really are macroscopic superpositions (or their equivalents, see many-worlds), and short of arbitrarily and artificially ascribing a magical quality to consciousness, it must logically be concluded that a living and aware beings can in fact themselves be subject to the same dynamics as a quantum uncertain state.
So arguably the public misconception of the intent of the thought-experiment is actually closer to what is now believed to be the correct understanding of physical reality. It’s kind of like if Galileo had been try to use the differently massed balls dropped off a tower thought-experiment to disprove the principle of earths gravity exerting the same magnitude of force on all objects instead of prove it, and now people use it to try and illustrate the truth of that principle even though he intended it to do the opposite.
